The Power of the Whole Brain State
Bruce Lipton in the "Biology of Belief" describes a state "superlearning" where both hemispheres of the brain are activated at the same time. Hemi-sync or bipolar activation is called whole brain.
If you have ever seen a person that has had a stroke, typically one side of the body is compromised and often paralyzed to a certain degree. The reason that side is affected is the stroke happened on the opposite side of the brain. The left side of the brain controls the right side of the body and the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body. The middle of the body is the dividing line between left and right control. Any movement or posture that crosses the middle of the body activates both sides of the brain. A very easy way to tap into both sides at once is the following posture:
What are the advantages of whole brain vs being on one side of the brain or the other? Because the two hemispheres see the world completely differently, in a whole brain state one can reprocess the past, present or future conclusions in the present moment. One can basically step out of trauma, stress, anxiety, and depressive mindsets and see what is going on from a different angle. Simultaneously processing events logically and with emotion at the same time. Seeing our history from a short-term and long-term perspective, in addition to seeing details and the big picture concurrently.
The whole brain state is a huge advantage over just being stuck on one side of the brain or the other!!
