Conscious vs Subconscious Mind

As you can see in the iceberg graphic below, we have two levels of mind.

The majority of people try to solve their problems at a conscious level.  That's where all our goals are and people have a tendency to try to think their way out of situations at this level.  The conscious level only comprises at the most 10% of our thoughts.

Einstein said the following many years ago:

"We cannot solve our problems with the same level of mind that created them."    Albert Einstein

The subconscious mind is a storehouse for all our past experiences, values, beliefs, and habits that we learned as we were socialized by others in the first 7 years of life.  This level comprises 90% of our thinking and the vast majority is out of our awareness.  The problem is a lot of the overall conclusions about ourselves coming out of childhood are negative.  We try to make positive changes at a conscious level and may actually have the bigger, more powerful subconscious mind sabotaging those changes because the conclusion below the surface is negative.
